Afstor Appoints New Leadership to Drive Sustainable Solutions in Sub-Saharan Africa

Afstor Oy, a leading technology developer in renewable energy solutions has announced a new leadership team and a strategic business plan aimed at expanding its impact in the solar cooking market.

Nina Harjula will assume the role of CEO and partner with Kimmo Rauma as the new Chairman of the Board.

Harjula joins Afstor from Danfoss Editron, where she has a proven track record in driving growth and innovation in the clean energy sector, working 8 years in the leadership team alongside Mr Rauma.

This leadership transition marks a pivotal moment for the company as it moves to address significant environmental and societal challenges in targeted markets. Founder and current CEO Ari Piispanen will stay in a strategic role as a board member continuing to support the new strategy. The changes will become effective on January 1st 2025.

Afstor Solar Home System produces clean energy for cooking, lighting and appliances with 100% solar power and zero CO₂ emissions. With proven technology, Afstor is poised to introduce its innovative solar-powered cooking solution to the semi-urban customer segment in Sub-Saharan Africa. This all-in-one system features an efficient induction stove, integrated battery, solar panels, and electricity for lighting and charging devices, providing a sustainable alternative to wood-burning stoves that contribute to various issues such as deforestation and health concerns.
