UPL Corp Releases Fourth Africa Sustainability Impact Report, Reaching Over 200,000 Farmers

UPL Corporation Ltd. (UPL Corp), a global provider of holistic and sustainable agricultural solutions, has released its fourth Africa Sustainability Impact Report (ASIR), covering the period from April 2024 to March 2025.
The report underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to advancing sustainable practices across its African operations through stewardship, training, technology innovation, food chain enhancement, sustainability partnerships, and community engagement.
Over the past year, UPL Corp’s initiatives reached more than 200,000 African farmers through integrated training programs, extension services, input financing, and market access support. The company trained 18,208 people in Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) and established 606 demonstration plots across the continent. An additional 14,175 individuals benefited from product stewardship training.
In technology innovation, UPL Corp registered 59 new products and introduced 152 improved seed varieties for growers in Africa. Through integrated projects that combined access to agricultural inputs with extension services, financing, or market access, 222,858 farmers received direct support.
The company’s flagship Partnership for Sustainability (P4S) program engaged 147,688 farmers over the year, working with 28 active partnerships that span public, private, and civil society organizations in the agricultural development sector. Community engagement efforts saw UPL Corp staff dedicating the equivalent of 15 working days to charitable causes, benefiting hundreds of people directly.
Marcel Dreyer, Regional Head of UPL Corp Africa, emphasized agriculture’s role in the continent’s development agenda. “While the sector faces significant challenges, such as climate change and resource limitations, the continent also has immense potential for growth and innovation. By leveraging sustainable practices, investing in infrastructure, engaging youth, and fostering collaboration, Africa can achieve a resilient and food-secure future,” he said.
Florent Clair, Global Sustainability Manager at UPL Corp, highlighted the expansion of the P4S initiative into Eastern Africa, with new partnerships forged with Farm Africa, the Sustainable Agriculture Foundation-Africa, and the African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership (AFAP). “These collaborations enable us to support more smallholder farmers on their journey toward climate resilience, improved livelihoods, and long-term sustainability,” he noted.
UPL Corp reaffirmed its dedication to driving sustainable agricultural practices and strengthening community resilience, with a vision of securing a brighter, more sustainable future for Africa.
