KenGen Green Energy Park Attracts Fifth Investor
Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) has onboarded Maxim Agri & Samakgro as the fifth investor in the KenGen Green Energy Park in Naivasha.
The new investor will use 3MW of green energy to construct an 8 Metric Tonne (MT) per hour fish feed production plant.
The project is valued at approximately USD 3.95 million and is expected to boost fish feed production capacity in Kenya to meet growing demand from the aquaculture industry.
KenGen Managing Director and CEO Eng. Peter Njenga said Maxim Agri & Samakgro is the second investor onboarded in 2026, bringing the total to five.
“We are delighted to welcome Maxim Agri Ltd as the latest investor in the KenGen Green Energy Park. This investment is a strong vote of confidence in Kenya’s green industrialization agenda,” Njenga said.
He said KenGen remains committed to supporting investors through clean, dependable geothermal energy and an enabling business environment.
Maxim Agri Director Joachim Westerveld said the plant would enhance the company’s production capacity while reducing operational costs through access to efficient power and steam solutions.
“These efficiencies will enable us to provide more affordable feed to farmers,” Westerveld said.
He said making high-quality feed more affordable would drive fish farming efficiency, boost productivity and improve livelihoods for fish farmers.
The onboarding coincided with the launch of a new Green Energy Park Investor Portal, a platform designed to accelerate investment in the geothermal hub.
Njenga said the portal gives prospective investors seamless access to information and investment opportunities.
“The Portal is more than an interface that allows global and local investors to explore opportunities virtually. It is a gateway to Africa’s green industrial future,” he said.
KenGen has previously onboarded Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA), Eco-cloud, Kaishan Group, Aquilastar Corporate Investment Company and Synergetic Development Group at the park.
