eWAKA ranked among Africa’s top 50 electric mobility firms
Kenyan-Rwandan electric mobility company eWAKA has been ranked among Africa’s top 50 mobility companies in the 2026 Mobility X Africa rankings, underlining its growth in the region’s fast-expanding e-mobility market.
The firm was also named one of Kenya’s five highest-ranked mobility businesses, and the highest-ranked woman-led mobility company in East Africa, making it one of only a handful of woman-founded businesses to feature in the continental ranking.
eWAKA operates in Kenya and Rwanda, where it has deployed more than 1,200 electric cargo bicycles and motorcycles. Its platform has processed more than 1.1 million deliveries, a sign of growing commercial uptake of electric mobility solutions in the region.
The company runs an integrated operating model that combines managed electric fleets with battery access, rider and technician management, financing services and proprietary software. It says the model is designed to cut fleet ownership costs for commercial operators while improving operational efficiency.
Founder and Chief Executive Officer Céleste Tchetgen Vogel said the ranking reflects eWAKA’s focus on building commercially sustainable e-mobility infrastructure rather than simply deploying vehicles.
“Disciplined execution and efficient capital allocation remain key to our growth strategy,” she said.
By bundling financing, charging infrastructure and fleet management into one ecosystem, companies such as eWAKA are positioning themselves to tackle several of the barriers that have slowed e-mobility adoption across the continent, including high upfront vehicle costs and limited charging access.
eWAKA plans to expand its managed fleet, invest further in its technology platform and channel additional growth capital into its existing operating model as it seeks to capture a larger share of East Africa’s electric mobility market.
The company is betting that a technology-enabled, capital-efficient approach will give it an edge as competition in the region’s e-mobility sector intensifies.
