GreenShift Forum 2026 brings business, finance and policy into Kenya’s green transition conversation

Businesses, financial institutions, policymakers and innovators will come together at GreenShift Forum 2026 on October 22 to examine how sustainability commitments can translate into investment, business opportunities and practical projects across Kenya and the wider region.

Organised by TechTrends Media, the forum will focus on six areas shaping the green economy: ESG as a competitive advantage, renewable energy innovations, e-mobility, the circular economy, green finance and carbon markets, and public-private partnerships. The event will bring together stakeholders working across finance, technology, energy, mobility, policy and enterprise.

The forum follows the September Countdown To GreenShift gathering, which brought together voices from business, sustainability, technology and public policy to discuss the forces shaping East Africa’s green economy.

BE PART OF THE CLIMATE CONVERSATION. JOIN GREENSHIFT

“ESG is right now a business decision,” said Nixon Kanali, founder of TechTrends Media, during the Countdown To GreenShift event.

His remarks reflect the broader direction of the forum, where sustainability is being considered through the lens of business strategy, investment, competitiveness, risk and long-term economic value.

Taking the green economy conversation beyond the boardroom

GreenShift Forum 2026 is designed to create space for a wider discussion involving companies, government, investors, innovators and other stakeholders.

Kanali said GreenShift is taking climate and ESG conversations beyond the boardroom, creating a space where businesses, government and innovators can engage on the green economy.

That cross-sector approach is central to the forum’s programme. Kenya’s green transition involves decisions about how energy is generated and financed, how businesses manage resources, how transport systems evolve, how waste is handled and how sustainability commitments are measured.

The forum will also extend the conversation beyond individual industries to consider how different parts of the green economy connect.

“GreenShift is making the case for a broader conversation around East Africa’s green economy, from ESG and green finance to renewable energy, e-mobility and circular economy,” Kanali said.

Six tracks will shape the programme

The ESG as Competitive Advantage track will examine how environmental, social and governance considerations are influencing business strategy, reputation, risk management and access to capital. The discussion will consider how companies can integrate ESG into operations and decision-making rather than treat it solely as a reporting or compliance obligation.

Renewable Energy Innovations will focus on developments and opportunities in clean energy, including the technologies, business models, financing structures and partnerships needed to expand adoption. The track will consider how innovation can support more reliable, accessible and commercially viable energy solutions.

The E-Mobility track will address the growth of electric transport and the practical issues affecting adoption. These include vehicle costs, financing, charging infrastructure, operating models, supply chains and the wider ecosystem required to support electric mobility at scale.

The Circular Economy track will explore approaches that reduce waste and extend the useful life of materials and products through reuse, recycling, recovery and more responsible production. It will also examine how circular models can create new business opportunities while reducing pressure on resources.

Green Finance & Carbon Markets will examine the role of financial institutions, investors and carbon-market mechanisms in funding sustainability projects. The discussion is expected to raise questions around the credibility of carbon credits, measurement, verification, pricing, regulation and the participation of African stakeholders in decisions shaping the market.

The final track, Public-Private Partnerships, will focus on collaboration between government, businesses, development institutions and communities. Such partnerships can help address infrastructure, financing, policy and implementation challenges that individual organisations may struggle to resolve independently.

Kanali previously said the forum’s tracks reflect issues that audiences across finance, energy and public policy are already grappling with.

“This year’s tracks reflect the issues our audience across finance, energy and public policy are grappling with right now, and we’re bringing the right voices into the room to move those conversations forward.”
